I do use the internet a lot at home but not that much for business at the moment. However, I think this will change over the coming months as my shop is having a refit and I'll be getting a decent computer in the back office.

The internet use by independent businesses seems to be limited by the number of suppliers / manufacturers offering "trade web sites" (only a handful - and well done Unilever for taking a lead)

However one site that may enable some of this to change is www.independentbuyer.net

Worth a look if you want to transact some of your business via the net - and at a time to suit you!!

My bosses don't have too much time to trawl the internet. Being a frequent user of t'net, I usually pride myself on being a savvy shopper. However, faced with the challenge of finding some new decals for the freezers - Walls said contact the people that sell the freezers - who have said that they don't do the decals; contact Walls. hmm... Yet I've stumbled across a couple of articles that mention getting new decals for tired freezers? Agh!

Would the ability for independent retailers to create and print out shelf edge labels, barkers and posters at home or back of shop be useful in communicating promotions? We can make this happen with brand logos or just plain pricing labels - contact me at david.jenkins@pierhouse.co.uk or take a look at www.nettickit.com
